Utilities (for DOS)

(To download the files, right-click on the link and use Save-Link-As.)

  • CoGrep.exe - A DOS program which searches for text in binary and ASCII files. Traditional grep programs don't handle binary files. (10K DOS .exe file)
  • PS.set - Improves font appearance of CoHort programs on PostScript printers. This file was accidentally left off version 3.00 and 3.01 disks. Put this file in the same directory as the .fnt files (usually \cohort3). (1K ASCII file)
  • Greek-l.fnt - A new, light version of the Greek font for use with CoPlot and CoDraw. Put this file in the same directory as the .fnt files (usually \cohort3). (4K binary file)
  • ClipArt1.exe - Shareware/Freeware clip art in CoDraw's .DRA format. The emphasis is on clip art that might be useful for scientists (animals and plants) and in office settings (e.g., for announcements). (260K Self-extracting DOS file)
  • WPGSize.exe - Utility to change the size and shape of .wpg files created by CoHort programs. (8K .EXE DOS file)
  • WinPif - Windows 3.1 PIF files for Version 3 CoHort programs and suggestions for running CoHort programs in Windows 3.1. (1K Self-extracting DOS .exe file)
  • CMPEG10.exe - Create MPEG files from PBM files. (29K Self-extracting DOS .exe file)
  • DMPG11.exe - View MPEG files. (30K Self-extracting DOS .exe file)
  • VMPG11.exe - View MPEG files. (77K Self-extracting DOS .exe file)
  • Pentium1.exe - Test for divide error on Pentium chips. (18K DOS .EXE file)
  • Pentium1.pas - Turbo Pascal source code for Pentium1.exe. (3K ASCII file)
  • HP1117.djc - When printing to 11"x17" paper on some HP Deskjets, only a portion of the image (8.5"x11" worth) is actually printed. To solve this problem, download the hp1117.djc file (right-click on it and Save-Link-As c:\cohort3\hp1117.djc). Then, before running CoPlot or CoDraw, type "copy hp1117.djc lpt1:" (or lpt2: or lpt3:) from the DOS command prompt. This will set up the printer for printing on 11"x17" paper. Then go ahead and run CoPlot or CoDraw. (Turning the printer off and on again will reset the printer back to the default 8.5"x11" mode.)

Note about self-extracting files: After you download the files, make (e.g., "md cohort3") and move to ("cd cohort3") the directory where you want to put the files. Then run the .exe file (e.g., "\temp\dpt.exe"). The decompressed files will be put in the current directory.
