Download CoStat, CoPlot, CoDraw, CoVis
(for DOS)
We plan to continue to support the DOS versions of the programs with
bug fixes and additions of small features.
This page lets registered users download the most recent minor release of
our DOS programs for free.
(This release is 3.034, dated 6/2/98)
- All registered users should get this - Because many small
changes have been made since the last major release (3.00 or 3.01,
the version you
probably have), we encourage you to get this release.
- Only for registered users of CoStat 5.x, CoPlot 3.x, CoDraw 3.x, and
CoVis 1.5x -
This upgrade must be installed over existing
installed programs from the same major release.
This upgrade does not include some of the required files
which were put in your
cohort directory when you installed the programs from the original
disks.
- Minor upgrade -
This is a minor upgrade, with several bug-fixes and a few small
new features.
- Free - Since this is a minor upgrade, it is available for free
to registered users.
-
Online documentation - You can now download optional
HTML-based online documentation.
The online documentation is the HTML version
of the paper manuals, but with many small additions and corrections to
bring them up to date. The documentation can be viewed with any
browser, even when you aren't connected to the web.
- How often? We intend to make every minor release available
here as soon as it is released. In the past, minor releases
have occurred anywhere between a week and 6 months apart --
with the average being two months.
They may include a single change or many changes.
- Email mailing list - If you want to be
notified by email whenever there is a new minor
release, send email to
info@cohort.com
with "Subscribe DOSVersion" as the subject.
(For major releases, all registered users will be notified by mail.)
- Changes - a partial list of
changes can be found below.
Installing the New Version
- Download the desired files (from the lists below) into your cohort
directory, usually c:\cohort3.
- Run -
From a DOS prompt, run each of the downloaded files (e.g., csp.exe).
They are self-extracting files.
- Overwrite [Y/N]? Y -
Each time the self-extractor asks "Overwrite [Y/N]",
press "y" for Yes.
- Delete (or archive) the downloaded files.
Program Files
Optional, HTML-based, Online Documentation Files
After the documentation is installed, you can view it
by pointing your browser
to c:\cohort3\coxxxx.htm (where xxxx is stat, plot, draw, or
vis).

Here is an list of changes you should know about:
- 8/17/95 CoPlot, CoDraw, CoVis - New driver "HP LaserJet 4 alt"
which has finer dither than "HP LaserJet 4".
- 10/9/95 CoStat - If unequal n's, CoStat now prints
"approximate" lsd with the message:
"There is no single LSD value; the n's are unequal (average=xxx).
But the approximate LSD is: LSD 0.05 = xxxxxxx".
Do this because LSD is a useful number and approximate is better
than none.
- 10/9/95 CoPlot - Graph Batch now supports Background printing
(if selected).
This is important for printing to printers that need Background=Yes.
To avoid problem of using up tons of disk space for temp files,
it pauses between graphs to spool last graph to the printer.
- 10/18/95 CoPlot, CoDraw, CoVis -
WMF driver problems: after several draws, all Windows memory gone.
- 4/19/96 New greek-l.fnt. See CoHort home page.
- 7/26/96 CoStat Descriptive: skewness, kurtosis, and
coefficient of variation (CV) equations changed
from biased to unbiased formulas. Biased wasn't wrong, but unbiased
is better.
- 10/3/96 CoPlot, CoDraw, CoVis -
HP LaserJet 4 drivers revised to work with newer series 5 printers.
- 1/22/97 CoStat - Miscellaneous Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test is
set up backwards. No change to the program. If you
set up your data file like the one in the manual, you will
get the right answer.
- 3/17/97 CoStat - GLM ANOVA, strip.aov was invalid .aov file.
strip.aov should have 2 of the error terms modified:
E I 1 2 4 -> E I 1 4 I 1 2 4,
E I 1 2 3 4 -> E I 1 3 4 I 1 2 3 4, but even better -> E.
Otherwise, it generates error: Sub-terms not found for I term.
Changing last E term to just E makes matrix much smaller
- 8/97 All programs -
Turbo Pascal has a bug that affects all programs when
run on fast (>=200MHz) computers: it generates an error 200 at xxxx:0091
when initializing the delay procedure in the CRT unit.
See CoHort home page: Bugs.
- 1/28/98 - Version x.030 released.
- 2/3/98 All programs - Year 2000 -
Previously, if you entered dates in the MM/DD/YY format, 1900 was
added to the year. Now, for YY=0..49, 2000 is added; and for
YY=50..99, 1900 is added. As before, you can also enter dates in the
MM/DD/YYYY format.
- 2/15/98 CoStat - Now requires spxy.gra in same directory as
.exe to run CoStat. It should already be there.
- 2/15/98 Version x.031 released.
- 2/15/98 CoPlot - Manually entered axis labels were sometimes overwritten
by the default labels.
- 2/15/98 Version x.032 released.
- 4/29/98 CoPlot, CoDraw, CoVis - Anti-theft change.
- 4/29/98 Version x.033 released.
- 6/2/98 CoPlot, CoDraw, CoVis - Now .wmf files can be created
which are bigger than 128KB.
- 6/2/98 Version x.034 released.
- 7/2/98 Links in all manuals now work properly with
Microsoft Internet Explorer.
The manuals on this web page are now version x.034.
