MONTEREY, CA - September 18, 2001 ... CoHort Software announced the release of CoPlot 6.0 for Windows, a program to help scientists and engineers draw publication-quality graphs, maps, and technical drawings, and do statistical analysis of data.
CoPlot is very versatile, allowing users to change any attribute of any part of any graph or drawing object. Users can save the drawings in other graphics file formats, including image files (.jpg, .png, etc.) and vector files (.eps, .pdf, .wmf, etc.).
CoPlot has a simple method to create drawings with many separate graphs. There is also a graph array "wizard" to simplify the creation and editing of arrays of graphs (for example, a graph with 2 Y axes, a graph with multiple Y axes, a correlation matrix graph, an n-channel graph, or an array of separate graphs).
CoPlot can make animated graphs and drawings. Users can rapidly view a series of datasets, view a series of 3D surfaces, scroll through a long XY graph, spin a 3D graph, or view a series of drawings as if they were a movie.
CoPlot has a new macro system that records user actions for later playback. The macros are ASCII files that use a C/Java-like language, so users can modify existing macro files or write their own macros.
CoPlot includes a command line form of the program which can be used as a drawing or graph creation program on a web server, in batch files, in shell scripts, with pipes, and from Java, Perl, Python, Rexx, and other programs. The command line program takes in a drawing specification (via ASCII commands) and creates a graphics file (for example, .jpg, .png, .eps, .pdf, .wmf) with the resulting drawing.
CoPlot includes CoStat, CoHort Software's statistics program, which is also sold separately. CoStat can import data from numerous types of data files, manipulate the data, and perform statistical tests. The GLM ANOVA procedure can handle missing values, unbalanced designs, and user-specified designs. The regression procedure supports non-linear regressions.
CoPlot is available from CoHort Software for US$310 ($150 for upgrades). Future minor upgrades are free. Technical support is free. A free trial version can be downloaded from http://www.cohort.com.
